Lake Twenty-Two got its name from the creek that drains it. Not surprisingly, the stream is named Twenty-two Creek. The creek got its name from the abandoned railroad that once ran along the valley floor. This creek was the 22nd creek that the Monte Cristo railroad crossed as it ran up the valley along the South Fork of the Sillaguamish River. But don't let this unimaginative name lead you to think that the lake is drab and dull. The trail and lake are a gem.
At about 9:30 a.m. on this early fall morning, it was a cool 50 degrees or so.
